Matador

Do you hear the roar of the crowd and the snorting of the bull? To err on the political side, I must say that I only approve in the kind of bull fights where the matador doesn't stick stuff in the bull. I prefer it to be more like a dance. That being said, matadors are serious about flair. I have to respect that fo sho. I have also included a picture of Ferdinand, the bull who liked to smell flowers because I think he is cute and I like that story and if there were no bulls, there would be no matadors.

**something I learned today: apparently matadors wear pink tights. Who knew? I guess matadors.

Kaitanya's look:

If I were a bull, I would not mess with this matador. She looks serious about seriousness (and very hot to boot).

Jillian's look:

Rest assured that Jillian made it out of this miniature bull attack unscathed. She distracted them with her lovely red pashmina and headed them straight to the corral.

Ali's look:

Ole! Cropped sweater jacket thing. Ornate gold trim. A slicked back ponytail for quick bull avoidance.

Sweater - target
Tank - TJ maxx?
Dance pants - forever 21

Jewelry - infinity necklace, signature clover necklace, Amanda earrings - all stelladot.com/ali

Casie's look:

We got bolero jacket, bling on the lapels and elsewhere, and red fabulosity (in honor of capes everywhere).

skirt, tank- thrifted
shoes- Chadwick's, Ebay
Jacket, bracelet and earrings- Target
Brooches- came with clothing but I dont' know from where

Windy's look:

She wears her decorated red "cape" as a skirt. When she passes by, bulls are strangely attracted to her and they can't exactly figure out why.

Muppet Show

It's the most sensational, inspirational, celebrational, muppetational...This is what we call the STYLING GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAME!

du du du du du duh...boom!

Our youngest participant yet is my nephew Jack (submitted with enthusiasm by his mom). His look is Animal. Note that he rocks this without a single accessory (including a wanton disregard for clothes). And yet, I really feel the character shining through.

body: by Charles and Lisa
cuteness: made it himself

Casie's look:

* I enjoy the double chin, scar view action in the flower pic.

Swedish Chef in da house! Mur ne nur de nur de flur de dur. Mee nuh nuh fee nuh nuh floo. Arr! Arr! Arr! (that is the Swedish Chef song in case you don't know). I have felt his institutional-ness with my thrifted maid outfit in blue stripes- accessorized with hot pink, cuz that is how you do it Swedish style.

dress: thrifted
belt: thrifted
flats: Old Navy

necklace: gift from France (fancy!)
flower brooch: made it myself

Jilli's look:
Wait for it...Wait for it (scroll down slowly)

BAM! That is a rock n roll Fozzie look. I suddenly feel the desire to tell a bad joke.

Windy's look:

Windy has gone controversial by choosing Mr. Poodlepants. It is controversial because I want to know: Is he wearing a poodles pants? Are there poodles on his pants? Does he even like poodles? Does he just need a shave?

Robin Hood

He is a merry bandit indeed. So many have tried to be him, but I prefer Errol the best.

Casie's look:

So the shirt is supposed to be a little like Robin Hood's tunic with the tight jeans representing RH's tights. Boots, of course. Green accessories round out the "forest bandit" look.

jeans- Gloria Vanderbilt, thrifted
top- thrifted
necklace- from Mexico and a gift
belt- Gap
boots- Target
earrings- Walmart (bleh, kind of embarrassed to admit it. I try not to shop there anymore- OK, off of soap box now)

Windy's look:

Look at Lady Robin Hood, frolicking in the forest with her purse of stolen gold. I always enjoy the backdrop of nature.

Sweater and shorts are thrifted – Oneill and The Limited
Ugg boots

Purse (in which I collect my money that I give to the poor) is Kathy Van Zeeland

Kaitanya's look:

The archer romps through the cubicles of Sherwood Office, stealing White-Out from the rich to give to the poor.

Any other bandits out there? Post to the Facebook page!

7 Deadly Sins

This is a painting by Hieronymus Bosch of the seven deadly sins. If you want to know more about it, click the link below.
Oooh. We learn about stuff here.
Hieronymus Bosch 7 The Deadly Sins and the Four Last Things

Casie's look:

AVARICE: Well, I went obscure today. In trying to figure out what to wear, I came across some artist depictions of the 7 deadly sins. I was really interested in this painting:

Generosity Against Avarice, from 'Rondeaux des Vertus'

So I am wearing my chicken print shirt over a red dress to symbolize Generosity upon her giant chicken, trampling Avarice/Greed in a red dress. Get it? Ha!

Kaitanya's look:

LUST...she is kind of oozing sexiness, no? She is not a cougar, folks. She is a TIGER!

Ali's look:

SLOTH- She says: Ahhhh... Comfy sloth. Easy tank and leggings. Everything I have on is from target. Didnt even put on jewelry today. I am the ultimate in lazy.

Windy's look:

WRATH- I believe her. She is super wrath-y. Doesn't Windy look awesome in red. Her look is based on the painting above.

If anyone else is playing and wants me to add their look, post to the Facebook Page and I will add you in.

Pretty in Pink

What about prom, Blane? Oh how it rings in my ears. This movie came out when I was in junior high and it was like, THE movie. I remember that Kaitanya had Pretty in Pink hose from Hanes and I thought they were so cool. I thought everything about Andie was cool. I have always loved vintage (aka thrift). I kind of always thought that the rich kids were way crazy mean and overly adult in this movie. Maybe there was some kind of class war in Chicago in the 80's that the history books have quietly swept under the rug. Either way, this movie is a classic and the style still holds up today.

This challenge was issued by Stephanie over at THOSE TRICKS. You should check out her blog. She has mad style skills and the thrifting power of a Jedi.

Kaitanya's look:

She is both pretty in pink and working a Duckie foot positioning technique. Remember at the end of the movie when Duckie shows up at prom and points down to his shoes? Tap tap, tap tap. He will always be the Duck Man to me.

Ali's look:

Yep, that's me. I was a new wave rebel kinda gal and I always loved Duckie best. FYI, the NOVEL version has Duck & Andie end up together which is really what should have happened. We all know Andie & Blaine dated through the summer & then broke up when he headed off to Dartmouth and she moved to NYC to attend parson's school of design and met someone of substance.

Anyway, shirt: target
Vest: old navy
Hat: m Frederic
Jewelry: hematite heiress hoops, liv multi charm necklace, all stelladot.com/ali

Windy's look:

So cute and so Andie. Kind of looks like something she would sew up, huh? And the neckline mimics the famous prom dress a little.

Skirt – thrifted
Top – Gibson
Shoes – Payless

Casie's look:

I am going full Andie style with an eclectic mix of pink items, floral print, and lots of jewelry. Almost all items are thrifted or gifted, so I think this is a perfect tribute.

shirt- thrifted
skirt- thrifted and reworked
shoes-thrifted

necklace- handed down from family
bracelets- Ebay, hand me downs, open market in France, one from Target

Sasha's look:

Not only is she working it, but the puppy too. That is a serious player.

Ali's look is coming later. Will update as soon as I have her pic.
