The Olympics

Oh Olympics. You bring the world together to experience the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat as one.

Casie's look:

My favorite Olympic events are figure skating and ice dancing (really I like ice dancing best). I have one very specific Olympic memory that I am inspired by today. I remember watching the 1992 Olympics in my grandfather's bedroom and seeing this Russian pair. It stood out for me because the girl was wearing a body suit- so pants instead of a skirt (escandelo!) and there was this spin where the girl was upside down and the guy was holding her leg up in the air. I also think I remember the commentators talking at some point about how hard it was for their trainer to get the materials for their costumes cuz it was RUSSIA after all. They won the gold medal that year. Today my dress is purple and gray for Natalia Mishkutenok
and Artur Dmitriev's costumes.

**Here is the link to that performance (THE SPIN comes at about 4 minutes).

Lisa dawn's look:

**Johnny Weir is the most sparkly skater I know.

Olympic ice skater:). Sparkles! The necklace is for the linked Olympics rings.

Art Inspiration- Roy Lichtenstein

Bauhaus Stairway

Roy Lichtenstein (American, 1923-1997)

I love art inspiration days!

Casie's look:

Blue black white and yellow. That's me. I love me a nice, lemony yellow. With the exception of the shoes, all is thrifted. (the flowers are black and blue but it is hard to tell from the pic).

Jilli's look:

I went with the color scheme from the painting. I wore my new Stella & Dot necklace and earrings - love the blue color with the gold chain!

Kim's look:

Well, today I kind of misunderstood the challenge. For some reason I thought it was to be inspired by our own favorite paintings... For me, that is Grant Wood's American Gothic. So I emulated the farmer in the painting with my black and white ensemble, and my jewelry represented the buttons on his shirt. Well, when I got to work, Jillian clued me into the actual challenge. The good news is that I still work. My outfit represents two of the shirts depicted in the painting! Tomorrow, I will be more successful! Layered tee shirts from Theory and Nikibiki with Silpada jewelry!

Rachelle's look:

I just love the pops of color from the painting..my outfit just represents the pops of color.. And....Lol I actually don't own yellow!

Lisa's look:

I thought today's challenge was a tough one. I chose a sweater that looks pixelated and tried to draw from the colors. I cheated by adding stairs to my picture;)

School House Rock

It looks like it is just me today. Well, my sister tried. Lacking electricity and rendered lethargic from the blizzard-like conditions in her town of residence, she was reduced to this.

A brave attempt at being the train from Conjunction Junction. Let's all pat her shoulder and tell her she's pretty. :)

BUT... I guess dork minds think alike because I am being Conjunction Junction today too. My overall dress really says it all. But just for kicks, I let me yellow shoes say a few things too.

dress- thrifted
shoes- painted yellow by me
shirt- Target

Wizard of Oz

The Wizard of Oz is creepy. Don't try to pretend it isn't. But I do like ruby shoes and lollipop kids. Ok, lollipop kids are creepy, but they have candy and sound like they suck on helium. Cool.

Casie's look:

Flying monkeys are horrifying...and FASCINATING! I have a tiny jacket, my crystal ball necklace and wings on my head. I am also the monkey colors of red and grey.

hair flair- made by me
necklace- won from the most fabulous Suburb Experiment blog. Check it out for sure!
Jenn is super sweet and stylish.
all else thrifted or handed down

Jilli's look:

Wicked witch of the west - black with accents of green.

Kaitlin's look:

Yellow brick road fabulosity.

Kaitlin's bonus look:

Kaitlin as the cowardly lion in a play this summer (hmmm...this must be after she got the courage).

Lisa's look:

My personal favorite, the scarecrow. Shirt, Merona. Sweater, Cement. My shirt is the golden straw and of course green for the scarecrow's shirt:)

KISS

Casie's look:

My daughter is still sick, so you get no make-up and mom jeans, but I did throw on the rest of my Kiss Army fatigues for this pic. I was so ticked at my husband. I asked him for a good Kiss pose since he is my go-to metal historian. He made me do it like 500 times until I got just the right Paul Stanley lip position. BOYS! hrmph.

Jilli's look:

I thought this was my most 'rocker' work-appropriate outfit. Inspired by Kiss in my choice of boots, funky tights, leather belt and silver jewelry.

Glidewell Family looks:

Lisa: Black and white for the iconic make up and red necklace for that famous tongue we all love!
Jonathan's look: Boys who are born with the rock n roll gene (like Jonathan) and truly LOVE every part of music have a hard time finding good moral role models. My son is blessed to have had many great male musician role models in his life including his Dad, Charles Glidewell, his very cool Uncle, William Tabanou and my Bff's husband (and drummer) Tricia N Jeff Hurt

Kaitlin: Kiss Groupie - I love that the rock n roll hands for my kids is actually "I love you" in sign language;)
