Punky Brewster

I don't even remember if I watched Punky Brewster. I think I must have at least a little. Anywho, I am impressed by the homage's to other characters on the show because the only one I remembered besides Punky was her dad. Oh stodgy older person with your feathers ruffled by a free spirit...you are the makings of sitcom genius.

Jilli's look:

*mmmm...purply 80's-ness

"Didn't quite get there on this one... when I think Punky, I think bright colors and the 80's. So, I went with a bright purple sweater and lots of arm bangles! I had intentions of a flowered hair accessory but it didn't make it out of the house. I also have on blue pants in honor of the ubiquitous blue jeans in Punky's wardrobe."

Tress' look:

"When I think Punky, I think about her denim jacket and pin. I don't have a denim jacket but this shirt served its purpose."'

"When I think Punky, I thing rainbows! I went with my only rainbow colored top (anthropologie) and bright navy pants (limited) with kicky brown nine west shoes. I need to track down some sweatbands. Never understood why that girl was so sweaty."

Kim's look:

"Today I channeled two characters from Punky Brewster. First, Margaux - Punky's bratty friend. Margaux loved her bows and frills, and I believe the adult Margaux would LOVE awesome shoes. I went with a soft brown color today in honor of Brandon, Punky's Golden Retriever."

Well my adult Punky Brewster is a fan of brights and never repeating a color in an outfit. Coral dress, hot pink shoes, turquoise necklace, and once I got outside and realized it was chilly, I added the navy jacket.

Garden Gnome

They made a movie out of them for pete's sake. The are much beloved. I don't own a garden gnome, but maybe it is time that I did.

Casie's look:

I find myself at a total loss in the tunic department. Also in the red hat department. As you will later see, a lack of a red hat is not an excuse. So I am going with a simulated tunic in the traditional gnome-esque color of royal blue. Belt and boots complete the look- with a red bow in the hair as a nod to the missing hat.

Kim's look:

"I love garden gnomes, but I think their outfits can be a bit boring. I went with the look of the traditional German gnome, Josef the Shelfsitter - but blinged it up with my sparkly top! Top by Piace Fashion, brown cords by Marlowe (the most comfortable pants in the world), jewelry by Stella and Dot. Had to lose the hat - it's supposed to be 90 degrees here today..."

Ali's look:

"Embroidered shirt, shorts and boots. Vaguely gnomey."

Instead of vaguely, I shall call it "a hint of gnome". Almost sounds like the new scent of Axe deodorant.

"My only experience with Garden gnomes was when in high school we stole a friend's stone garden squirrel (which weighed a million pounds) and then wrapped it up and gave it back to her as a gift. I was a rebel. However, when I think tradit...ional garden gnome, I think belted tunic and boots. So, naturally, I have a few of those floating around. No...I have one. Thankfully, it was clean. Now I intend to spend the rest of the day sitting on someone's lawn or sneaking off to random places and jumping on the hotel bed so my hat sticks to the ceiling."

Toy Story Character

Did you ever have a toy that you loved to pieces forever and ever? I didn't. I know there was a sauce pot that I was VERY fond of as a baby (it was so versatile- drum, step stool, etc.), but I gave it up at some point. Ali has a stuffed Monkey (named Monkey) that she has had since like birth or something. That little guy is well loved to the nth power. He lives in a special pillowcase with a secret Monkey pocket that I made for him for her birthday a while back. He has needed some repairs over the years, but in the love department, he always delivers.

Tress' look:

If we don't have an Andy...we don't have a story at all.

Chelsea 2's look:

"So, today at work, we were asked to wear workout clothes for a GOOD video. I still wanted to remain true to the theme too (what a conundrum)! I noticed Barbie was very 80s workout-esque, so I followed suit with 80s workout gear. Notice the magenta leggings and the off-the-shoulder GOOD T from American Apparel, and the sweaty workout headband. So, barbie (and jillian, I see) this is inspired by you!"

Jillian's look:

Jilli is Ken-riffic in her styling turquoise cravat. Ken deserves some props for dealing with a girl who CANNOT figure out what job she wants to do. Pick one, Barbie. For Pete's sake!

Casie's look:

I am sporting the colors of Buzz light year today with my purple shell and lime green cardigan. I also feel that the lucite beads on my necklace mimic the spherical transparency of Buzz's helmet (that's right, I said spherical transparency).

Kim's look:

Friday challenge: Garden Gnome

Grecian

That scene from "The Music Man" where the women in the town do a performance of "One Grecian Urn" has been running through my head since I pulled this one out of the envelope. And I suppose you could always go with Greek like sorority and fraternity-ness or Grecian Formula. I do enjoy a gyro a great deal. I wonder if anyone will dress up like a gyro? hmmmm....I think I must be hungry.


Chelsea's look:

Chelsea has gone all gladiator on our behinds. It works.

Chelsea 2's look:

"Inspired by the Mediterranean and clearly the bare end of summer, I thought of the empire structure of this vintage dress shouted "wear me on Grecian day!" (so did Grecian flip flops, not seen here). This dress was a steal at a small charity vintage shop in Palm Desert."

Casie's look:

I wasn't sure what I was going to do with this one. Then I remembered I have this drapey-lu-lu maxi dress that would do the trick. To my surprise, some of the trim on the dress is VERY Grecian. Score! I am wearing a necklace as a headband for my goddessy indicator. I am going Athena today and so I am wearing an owl necklace. I also have on apple earrings. Athena was one of the goddesses fighting over the golden apple when all that Trojan War mess got started. Silly goddesses.

Kim's look:

"For today's challenge, I went with a flowy turquoise number and strappy high sandals!"

I think she looks like the beautiful turquoise waters of Greece.

"OK so my normal work travel attire does not include anything drapey or flowing or off-the-shoulder, so I'm getting a bit creative today. Inspired by the ladies of My Big Fat Greek Wedding, I went with a cardigan over a shell, gold jewelry (slight cross motif in the necklace), and wavy hair. And yes, it is 6:30am Eastern time..."

I think Tress looks like she has gone on a Greek Cruise and she is walking about the streets of some Greek village in her Grecian peasant shirt. Breezy and lovely!
